Senior Freddie Retter earned Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Wrestler of the Week honors on Feb. 10, adding another conference accolade to his career.
Retter made his season debut Jan. 31, falling in a dual meet to No. 5-ranked Dorian Crosby. He rebounded on Feb. 6 with a first-period pin in 1 minute, 27 seconds against Millersville. The performance earned him his first PSAC Wrestler of the Week award.
In 2024, Retter was named PSAC Defensive Athlete of the Year as a defensive lineman for KU football. After that season, he returned to the wrestling mat and placed fifth in NCAA Division II at 285 pounds, earning All-America Honors.
Entering the current season ranked No. 3 in Division II at 285 pounds, Retter’s campaign was delayed due to injuries sustained during the 2025 football season. Those injuries forced him to miss time at various points and limited his availability at the start of wrestling season.
For the All-American heavyweight, it was his 12th career victory and fourth career pin in the maroon and gold. His victory moved him to 12-4 at the collegiate level, while he recorded the third fastest pin of his career and the quickest among the five Kutztown pins on Friday night.
Retter returned to action at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Keystone Arena for Senior Night against East Stroudsburg, earning a victory in his final home dual.
