KU women’s basketball saw its quest for a second straight conference crown end Wednesday, March 4, with a 79-54 loss to Seton Hill.
Despite the loss, KU’s season was far from unsuccessful. The Golden Bears finished second in the PSAC East with a 19-10 overall record and a 15-6 mark in conference play.
The Golden Bears will graduate three key contributors, Leila Hurley, Olivia Smelas and Danae Ellzy, all of whom concluded their collegiate careers this year.
Hurley finished her career with 180 3-pointers, ranking fourth in program history. Smelas recorded 823 career rebounds, also fourth all-time. Her 183 steals rank seventh in program history, and her 114 blocks rank 10th.
Smelas earned first-team all-conference honors for the first time in her career and the second all-conference selection of her career. Ellzy earned her first postseason honor with a second-team all-conference selection.
