Men’s tennis team throttles Scranton

Rushi Amin, Varun Desai, and Rich Lichtenburg won both of their singles and doubles matches for KU. Amin handled opponent Tim McGurrin with ease, 6-3, 6-0, to improve his singles match total to 6-0 for the season. Lichtenwalner followed suit with an impressive 6-3, 6-0 win over Mike Pannone. Desai was the only one to struggle, if struggling means less than perfect.

After dropping his first set 3-6 to David Teres, Desai fought back, breezing through the second set 6-1. Desai would have to fight in the final set, edging out Teres 11-9 for the match win.

With eight of KU’s players winning in doubles and singles combined, they sit at 4-1 in the Pennsyvania State Athletic Conference, 8-6 overall, placing them second in the PSAC rankings behind rival Bloomsburg.

Junior Rushi Amin has been the catalyst for KU in the 2012 season. Not only is he undefeated, but he is not allowing opponents to win games in a set. After his singles match against Scranton, he is 72-15 in games against the opposing player, with four shut-outs for the season. Amin has been the king of singles, having not lost a match since March 28, 2012. He is currently riding a 12-0 streak.

KU finish off the fall season with a match against La Salle University in Kutztown, Pa. Matches start at 10 a.m. at the tennis courts behind University Field.
