KU’s Pennsylvania German Cultural Heritage Center will host Easter on the Farm, a free family-friendly day of Easter traditions and activities, on Saturday, March 28, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Easter on the Farm will feature children’s events, including craft making, music by Keith Brintenhoff at 1:30 p.m., and two egg hunts at 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m.
Visitors can participate in basket making and enjoy various folklife demonstrations, including live musical performances by regional musicians Mike and Linda Hertzog around noon, traditional hearth cooking, coal-forge blacksmithing, and craft displays by local artisans from the Reading-Berks Chapter of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen.
Lunch will be provided by the Kutztown Lions Club, a longtime community service organization.
The award-winning historic docudrama “The Fries Rebellion” will be shown during a special screening at 3 p.m. to close out the day’s festivities.
Bookstands featuring the newest volume in the Heritage Center’s annual publication series, “Sauer’s Herbal Cures: America’s First Book of Botanical Healing,” by William Woys Weaver, will be open during Easter on the Farm.
