KU Women’s Acrobatics and Tumbling defeats the Morgan State Bears, advancing to a 2 – 1 record  

Sydney Jundt (#10) named Mountain East Conference (MEC) Specialist of the Week

The Golden Bears Women’s Acrobatics and Tumbling team rallied over Morgan State University on Friday, Feb. 21 at Keystone Arena, defeating the Morgan State 228.250 – 225.090.

The Golden Bears came out on top in the compulsory event with an acro, pyramid, and toss heat, keeping a close score with Morgan State 33.95 – 33.90. 

Morgan State got ahead of KU in the acro event of three heats, making the team scores 60.0 – 57.80, but KU did not let down, responding in the pyramid event with a 2.40 lead of 85.85 – 83.45. 

After the half, KU held their spot at the top in the toss event with combined scores of 110.200 – 108.450, but Morgan State responded back in the tumbling event to retake the lead, 158.60 – 155.20, following six heats. 

KU senior Tiffani Lincoln (#1), put forth a 9.35 out of a possible 9.55 in the tumbling six element heat, the third-highest score in that heat in program history.

The Golden Bears came out ready for the team event with a powerful routine to end with a final overall score of 228.250 – 225.090. 

Sydney Jundt (#10), who competed in twelve heats out of a possible fourteen, has been named the Mountain East Conference (MEC) Specialist of the Week, following her performance against Morgan State. 

“We work extremely hard with the coaches to execute each skill until we get it right. That gives us the trust in each other and the confidence it takes to go into the meets,” Lincoln said. “I’m looking forward to working with the team and demonstrating our improved skills and performance from the last meet.”
