By Fern Theobaldo
Kutztown University marked Sept. 11—also known as Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance—by displaying more than 700 American flags in and around Alumni Plaza to honor the lives that were lost and those affected by the attacks of September 11, 2001.

Students, teachers, faculty and staff were invited to observe moments of silence between at 8:46 a.m., 9:03 a.m., 9:37 a.m. and 10:03 a.m. The tribute was also marked by the Kutztown University Pipe Band at 10:15-10:30 a.m.
In addition, Rohrbach Library featured a display highlighting the remarks, including a 9/11 World Trade Center Twin Towers model. There is also a 9/11 mural, painted by a KU alum, on display on the second floor of the McFarland Student Union.
This year, the 9/11 Memorial and Museum encourages people to post on their Remember the Sky Remembrance Wall website.
