University Place, Dixon, Bonner Hall, and South Dining Hall are affected

A water main break occurred on December 1, leaving University Place, Dixon, Bonner Hall, and the South Dining Hall without water for roughly three hours.
South Dining Hall closed for the day as a result of the water outage.
During the break, the university offered students living in the affected buildings a chance to shower in another building. Students were able to sign in, shower, and then sign out.
After facilities and contractors repaired the break, Kutztown placed the buildings on a boil advisory, meaning the water was unsafe for consumption. South Dining Hall remained open through the boil advisory since they could flush their line.
The university offered students living in University Place, Dixon, and Bonner Hall two free water bottles, and encouraged students to brush their teeth with it. Students could obtain drinks at the dining halls.
Kutztown lifted the boil advisory for University Place, Dixon, and Bonner Hall on December 4. The university removed the boil advisory for the South Dining Hall on December 5. The Kutztown University Office of University Relations said, “The water quality has been tested and the results are acceptable.”
University Place resident Kristen Gonci recounts her experience during the water outage, “I got up to use the bathroom, and I realized the water was out when I couldn’t flush the toilet. I ran to the sinks and the shower to confirm my suspicions that we had lost water. The situation caused me to have a panic attack, as I needed to shower in the morning due to my Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD).”
Since the South Dining Hall was closed during the water outage, the university offered students dinner at the Cub Cafe and the Academic Forum food court. Kutztown also moved one event, The Grinch takes on Kutztown, to the Rothermel Hall Rec room.
