KUR receives national nominations from the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System

By Patrick Dietrich, Staff Writer

Kutztown University Radio has been nominated for three different awards at the 74th annual Intercollegiate Broadcasting System conference in New York City.

The station is nominated for “Best College/University Station (schools with less than 10,000 students),” “Best Station Contest/Promotional Event,” and “Best Use of Social Media.” KUR has been nominated for their spring promotional event coverage of Battle of the Bands. The event showcased local musical acts such as Stargazer, L’astronaut and The Groove Merchants.

KUR’s social media team has changed over the last year. Station Manger, Mike Regensburger, was solely in charge of all social media prior to this past semester. KUR recently incorporated a social media team to manage the station’s Facebook and twitter accounts and post up-to-date sports and news.

Members of the radio station are encouraged to make Facebook pages for their own show, which allow listeners to get updates from specific student shows.

Kutztown’s radio station will be going up against schools such as University of Connecticut, Gannon University and California State University for the national awards. The conference begins March 7 in the Hotel Pennsylvania, across from Madison Square Garden in NYC.
