KU posts their lowest score of the season enroute to their runner-up finish on Saturday
By Tommy Scuderi
The KU Women’s Golf team wrapped up its regular season with a strong showing on Saturday, April 19, finishing second overall at the ESU Spring Invitational.
With the PSAC Championship right around the corner, the performance came at just the right time.
Held at Glen Brook Golf Club in Stroudsburg, the invitational brought together eight teams for a one-day event to close out the spring schedule. KU put together its best team score of the season so far, shooting a 339 (+51), a total that landed them comfortably in second place.
Sophomores Brooke Graham and Rhi Stutz led the way, each carding a 10-over 82 to tie for sixth place individually. Their consistent play at the top of the lineup helped pace a strong day for the Golden Bears.
Sophomore Grace Klements wasn’t far behind, shooting an 87 to finish 18th. Junior Alexis Peet followed with an 88, to place 19th, while junior Gabby Cohen rounded out the team scoring with a 94. Freshman Brooke Prindiville (90) and senior Alivia Miesowitz (93) also competed individually and added depth to the lineup.
Millersville claimed the team title with a 318, led by Charley Kirby’s 4-over 76. Susquehanna (342), Bloomsburg (352), and East Stroudsburg (371) followed KU in the standings.
For KU, this runner-up finish marked their second of the spring season and one of their most complete team efforts to date. Head coach Robert Fisher and the squad have seen steady improvement over the past few outings, and the timing couldn’t be better as the regular season winds down.
Now, all attention shifts to the PSAC Championship, set for Friday, April 25 to Sunday, April 27 at Berkleigh Golf Club, which is just 30 minutes from KU’s campus.
With momentum on their side and confidence building across the lineup, the Golden Bears head into the postseason with high hopes and a chance to make a deep run. If their most recent performance is any sign of what’s to come, KU could be a team to watch as championship weekend unfolds.
