On Oct. 2, KU announced three hires in the University Relations and Athletics divisions, two of which were current KU employees. Hired were an assistant vice president of marketing and communications, a director of communications and an executive assistant for University Relations and Athletics.
Sharon Tercha, a Penn State alum, fills the assistant vice president role as a new-to-KU hire. According to University Relations, she has over 25 years of experience in marketing and public relations across multiple industries.
Prior to KU, Tercha served as director of demand generation and relationship marketing for the Center for Creative Leadership, Greensboro, North Carolina.
She also served as owner and principal of Tercha Consulting for 15 years, and as senior vice president of strategies and communication for a national bank advisory group.
At KU, Tercha now supervises the offices of Web, Digital, and Social Media, which includes KUR and Web Technology; Photography; Video Services; and Design and Print Media. She also leads the university’s marketing efforts, including the next phase of the university’s branding campaign.
KU’s sports information director for the past five years, Bryan Salvadore, a KU alumnus, now moves into the director of communication role.
Salvadore is now responsible for “In his role at KU, Salvadore is responsible for “day-to-day interaction with print and electronic media, internal and external communications planning, assisting with the university magazine and other communications initiatives,” according to a media release.
Hired as an executive assistant to the vice president for University Relations and Athletics was Tammy Starner Wert, a Shippensburg alumna who previously served as administrative assistant to the former associate vice president for the division.
