As the 2014-2015 music showcase performance presented by KU Presents! comes to an end, Director Robin Zaremski is proud to finish with a sold-out performance of Audra McDonald on Thursday, April 16 at 7:30 p.m.

“We are thankful to our supporters and our subscribers. We have been sold out since September,” says Zaremski.

Six-time Tony Award-winning artist Audra McDonald graduated from the Julliard School in 1993. McDonald had a claim to

fame in 1994, at the age of 28, for her performance in “Carousel” and then continued to thrive in “Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill,” “Porgy and Bess,” “Ragtime,” “A Raisin in the Sun” and other performances on Broadway stages.

Her opera debut came in 2006 with “La Voix Humaine” and “Send.” She also had numerous appearances on television:

“Law & Order: Special Victim’s Unit,” “Bedford Diaries,” as well as “Private Practice.”

As a multi-talented star of Broadway, TV, movies, opera and the concert stage, the soprano singer has an unmistakable range and versatility in her voice, as well a talent for acting.

According to a review in The Boston Globe, McDonald is “one of the most consummate performers there is, effortlessly intimate, casually masterly, seemingly more comfortable on stage than most people are anywhere.”

As a two-time Grammy Award winner, McDonald continues to captivate audiences, performing with leading and international orchestras around the world.

An evening with McDonald includes some of her favorite Broadway songs, as well as songs from her latest album, “Go Back Home.”

She will be returning to the Broadway stage in a showcase called “Shuffle Along,” opening April 26, 2016, which The New York Times described as “absolutely thrilling… a defining voice of our time.”

Before “An Evening with Audra McDonald,” a private dinner of assorted breads, salads, chicken and cheesecakes will be offered to VIPs, who have a special opportunity to preview the KU Presents! 2015-2016 line up starting this fall.
