Dr. Philip Cavalier to be installed as KU’s 13th president at April 10 ceremony

The KU Office of University Relations has announced the installation of Dr. Philip Cavalier as the university’s 13th president. The ceremony will take place on Friday, April 10, at 2 p.m. in Schaeffer Auditorium.

The ceremony will be livestreamed for those not able to attend in person. There will also be an overflow viewing area established in 183 MSU.

Faculty who choose not to march but wish to attend the ceremony may request a limited number of tickets on a first-come, first-served basis, beginning at 8 a.m. Monday, Feb. 23 (ticket link to come). Appropriate academic attire is required for processing. Faculty needing regalia may rent it from KUSSI via the online form.

Faculty are invited to related events on Thursday and Friday, April 9-10. Registration is not required, and refreshments will be provided.

A student showcase will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, across North Campus. The event will feature a selection of students’ course projects, art displays, performances and extracurricular activities. 

A campus celebration will be held on Friday, April 10, at 3:30 p.m. in a tent on Schaeffer Lawn. 

The class schedule for April 9-10 remains unchanged. In addition, all university offices are expected to remain open and operational.
