Music students bring entertainment to campus

By Toby Lemon

On Monday, Oct. 19, at 7:30 p.m., the second Music Monday performance of the semester was hosted in Schaeffer Auditorium. Music Monday is a biweekly event that occurs at the same time and location every showing.

This edition of the event featured eight performances including soloists, a flute quartet and El Trio Caribe, a chamber music trio. The concert primarily consisted of classical music, but also included a composition of “Over The Rainbow” performed by the flute quartet alongside their primary musical piece.

The student performances began with four soloists, each performing a piece of their choosing. At the midway mark of the event, the flute quartet played two pieces utilising both the standard flute and alto flute. Following the quartet, the final two soloists performed their pieces.

The group consists of pianist Andrés Zuluaga, violinist Jade Hasbún and cellist Alejandro Bolívar. The group presented their chosen piece as an end to the night’s concert.

The next Music Monday performance is on Nov. 2 at 7:30 p. m., in Schaeffer Auditorium.
