Applications for the Disney College Program are now open to KU students. On Sept. 9, the Career Development Center hosted an information session, led by Assistant Director Chad Ganley, to explain how participants can earn academic credit by interning with Disney.

Students accepted into the program earn $18 to $19 an hour and receive a variety of park perks. Former KU participants have highlighted movie premieres, retreats and parties among the benefits. Students also get free access to the parks, complimentary tickets for friends and family, and exclusive discounts on hotels and Disney Cruise Line.

To apply for the program, visit disneycollegeprogram.com. Within 48 hours, a representative will be in contact to do a 30-minute phone interview and may present the student with an offer by the end of the call.

After the representative gives the offer, Disney allows the student seven days to accept or reject. In those seven days, the student must mail a non-refundable check to Disney, securing their admission. It is highly advised that students talk to their advisor and financial aid before accepting.

If gaining acceptance into the program, there are two options for students to choose in regards to their academics.

The first option offers students individual study or internship credits, which must be set up with the student’s advisor and department. The second option offers only the experience, which must be set up with the student’s advisor.

Disney will inform the student of their arrival date and time. The student is solely responsible for their transportation to move in.

For more information about how to get involved, visit the KU Career Development Center in the Stratton Administration Center.
