A report of a stabbing in Rothermel Hall went out through campus email in a KU crime alert on Oct. 17. The stabbing was reported as accidental to the police, according to the alert.

The female student was in stable condition after being stabbed. The male student told police that the knife stabbing was accidental. He is not in custody as of Oct. 18 but may see action by the campus judicial process, according to a Pennlive article.

The report to KUPD was received around 10:34 p.m. and an alert was posted through campus email at 12:51 a.m. According to the alert, Police are investigating and conducting interviews with parties involved.

The alert stated that there was no further danger to the campus at the time. Students are asked to report any suspicious activity or persons to university police through the campus phone by dialing 34002 or 610-683-4002.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact KUPD at extension 34001 or 610-683-4001 or by dialing the extension 38477 from a campus phone.
