The KU Foundation’s 1866 Giving Challenge officially opened for donations today Tuesday, Oct. 20, at 7 a.m. and will continue through Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 2:06 p.m.

The mission of the KUF is to raise funds to develop and enhance educational opportunities at KU for students, faculty, alumni and the surrounding community.

The KUF was established on July 1, 1983, when the George B. Hancher Memorial Scholarship Fund and the Kutztown College Foundation merged. That same year, Kutztown State College officially became Kutztown University of Pennsylvania.

For more than 30 years, the KU Foundation has supported the university by raising funds to improve the quality of education and expand opportunities for the campus community.
