April brings series of campus events

Cheyenne Jackson: Wednesday April 1, in Sheaffer Auditorium at 7:30 p.m.
A heartfelt mix of storytelling and music, filled with laughter and emotion, celebrates his journey from rural Idaho to becoming a star of stage and screen. The performance features songs by Queen, Sam Smith and Chappell Roan, along with selections from beloved Broadway productions that shaped him into the family man he is today, including Into the Woods, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Aida and Damn Yankees.
Allies Drag Show: Thursday April 2, in Shaeffer Auditorium at 7 p.m.
Co-sponsored by Allies and the LGBTQ+ Resource Center, the event features KU students dressed in exaggerated, artistic expressions of gender, combining fashion, makeup, dance and lip-syncing. It fosters a fun, energetic atmosphere with music, audience interaction and themed performances, while promoting inclusivity and awareness within the college community.

Gary Burton & Escape Ten Duo: Tuesday April 7, in Wells-Rapp Center for Mallet Percussion at 5 p.m.
Dr. Phillip Cavalier Installation Ceremony: Friday April 10, in Shaeffer Auditorium at 2 p.m.
A formal event marking the official beginning of KU’s new president, Dr. Phillip Cavalier’s leadership, will include speeches from university leaders, faculty, students and special guests. The ceremony will also feature traditions celebrating the institution’s history, mission and future, while introducing the president’s vision and goals to the campus community.
Sean Jones with Kutztown University Jazz band: Wednesday April 15, in Shaeffer Auditorium at 7:30 p.m.
Trumpeter, bandleader and composer Sean Jones rose to prominence after Wynton Marsalis invited him to become lead trumpeter for the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. Now an internationally recognized educator, he leads programs at the Peabody Conservatory and the Carnegie Hall NYO Jazz Ensemble.
At Schaeffer Auditorium, he will perform as both bandleader and collaborator, joined by KU jazz students.
Actors Creating Theater Presents: She Kills Monsters: Thursday April 16 through Saturday April 18, in Schaeffer Little Theatre at 7 p.m. with a 2 p.m. show on Saturday
ACT’s Spring 2026 play tells the story of an English teacher, Agnes Evans, as she explores her late sister’s world through a fantasy role-playing game called Dungeons & Dragons. Along the way, she encounters monsters, quests and unexpected friendships, leading her on a journey of self-discovery, grief and acceptance, all blended with humor and adventure.

Mil-vet 5k run: Saturday April 18 at the DMZ at 9 a.m.
The Student Veterans Association is hosting a 5K, its biggest event of the year. By supporting the event, you are supporting both SVA and Kutztown University veterans.
Philadelphia Art Museum Trip: Sunday April 19 at 11 a.m.
Out of the darkness walk at the DMZ: Sunday April 19 at 3 p.m.
The National Alliance on Mental Illness Kutztown University chapter will host its annual Out of the Darkness Campus Walk at the DMZ, beginning at 3 p.m. Proceeds from the event will benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, and all campus clubs are encouraged to participate.
The Lorax Movie under the stars at the DMZ: Wednesday April 22 at 7 p.m.
Join the Activities Board for a special Movie Night Under the Stars, featuring an exclusive screening of The Lorax, perfectly timed to celebrate Earth Day. Students can bring a blanket, relax with friends and enjoy the outdoor atmosphere while watching the fan-favorite film. They can also treat themselves to fun snacks like dirt pudding cups and enjoy a night of entertainment, community and a reminder to care for the planet.
Volleyball East Tournament: Saturday April 25 – Sunday April 26, in Keystone Field House at 8:30 a.m.
Pajama paint Party with Bob Ross: Tuesday April 28 in MSU 218 at 5 p.m.
Enjoy a cozy, creative pajama paint night inspired by a Bob Ross video. Follow along step by step to create your own masterpiece in a relaxed, fun atmosphere. Paint, brushes and canvases will be provided.
Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable pajamas and enjoy a selection of snacks while painting and unwinding with friends.
