For Women’s History month, the KU Women’s Center will hold the Phenomenal Women Awards Show, an event made to celebrate some of the amazing women of KU. The event will be held on Thursday, March 13, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the McFarland Student Union (MSU) 218.
People interested in nominating a female friend or loved one at KU can submit up to three nominees via the following form: Nominee Submission. Note that the form will be completed by writing a 75-word (or fewer) description explaining why your specific nominee deserves to be nominated, as well as a photo of them.
At the Phenomenal Women’s Awards, nominees will receive an “award” with their nomination printed for them, as well as the opportunity to partake in a wonderful activity-filled morning. Some of the event’s entertainment include a variety of performers and groups on campus, as well as a dessert reception and a Black Women in History themed traveling museum.
Any student performers interested in the opportunity to bring their own flare to the show can feel free to sign up by Thursday, March 6. To sign up, contact the Women’s Center email at the bottom of this article for the next steps.
Thanks to a collaboration with the Office of Student Involvement, the True Black History Museum will feature their exhibit “Women of Color – A Tribute to the Contributions of African American Woman.” This exhibit will present a prolific amount of history, artifacts and mementos related to many extraordinary figures such as Rosa Parks, Maya Angelou, Coretta Scott King and many more.
If students have any questions about the award ceremony, they can contact womenscenter@kutztown.edu or call (610) 683-4655.
