KU Esports is back in full swing for the Fall 2026 semester. There are many teams for games such as Overwatch, Marvel Rivals, Mario Kart, Splatoon and Super Smash Bros.
Tryouts began during the second week of the semester with some continuing into the third week. Club practice, events and matches are set to begin on Monday, Sept. 7. KU Esports offers rolling tryouts, giving students the opportunity to try out for a team at any time.
Titles and their team tryout dates:
Splatoon – Wednesday, Sept. 2, starting at 8 p.m.
Smash/FGC – Thursday, Sept. 3, starting at 6 p.m.
Mario Kart – Friday, Sept. 4, starting at 5 p.m.
Overwatch – Tuesday, Sept. 8, from 8 – 10 p.m., and Monday, Aug. 31, at 5 p.m.
Marvel Rivals – Thursday, Sept. 10, at 8 p.m.
Students interested in joining must fill out the participation packet on Engage to become a member of KU Esports. All members of KU Esports must pay dues to join a team’s roster.
General membership is $10, as well as an additional $5 for every team joined. Additional links and contact information can be found on the KU Esports Discord server, including up-to-date payment instructions and requirements to join.
