Open to students seeking development in broadcast media

On Oct. 16, the newly founded KU chapter of the Broadcast Education Association’s (BEA) Collegiate Media Chapter held its first meeting. Weekly meetings are held every Thursday at 4:30 p.m. in Rickenbach 213.
The KU chapter is registered as a club through Engage and is open to all students seeking professional development in the field of broadcast media, as well as a community of creatives.
Weekly meetings which include workshops such as software troubleshooting, portfolio reviews, guest speakers and other topics related to professional development.
The chapter also plans to start a bi-weekly production of a show featuring topics from around the university, as well as the student body.
The BEA is a nationally recognized academic organization that focuses on broadcast media in higher educational institutions and offers members various benefits. These include a lifetime membership, the chance to submit work to their annual film festival, scholarship opportunities and the chance to attend an annual conference that is held in Las Vegas.
