Laura Conaway, a 2020 graduate of KU, released her third novel, Rescued Duty, on Tuesday, March 11. Conaway will host a book launch celebration on Saturday, March 29 at 4 p.m. at Barnes and Noble Promenade Center Valley (2960 Center Valley Pkwy Suite 742, Center Valley, PA 18034).
Rescued Duty is book five in the latest Last Chance Fire and Rescue series presented by Lisa Phillips. Rescued Duty follows Rescue Squad firefighter Zack Stephens and investigative reporter Naya Michél, the girl Zack promised to protect when they lived in foster care together. When a water contamination crisis and murder investigation draw them back together, Naya and Zack must figure out if they can learn to trust—and love—each other again despite the pain of their past.
Rescued Duty is available for purchase in e-book and paperback formats.
Conaway is known for penning inspirational romantic suspense novels with the theme of triumphing through trials. Her debut novel, Expired Vows, was published by Sunrise Publishing in 2023. Expired Vows tells a story of grief, faith and perseverance from the dual perspectives of EMT Trace Bently and counselor Kelsey Scott. It has been years since Trace and Kelsey have seen one another, but they share a long history and one devastating loss: Renee, Trace’s wife and Kelsey’s best friend. When Kelsey becomes the target of a series of dangerous attacks, Trace steps in to protect his late wife’s best friend. Their proximity forces Trace to confront his past and Kelsey to confront the feelings she has suppressed all these years.
Conaway is also the author of Silencing the Witness, released in 2024 by Love Inspired Suspense, a division of HarperCollins. Silencing the Witness tells the story of Avery Sanford, a key witness to a murder. After her identity in the witness protection program is compromised, Avery has no choice but to accept help from former army commander Seth Brown, who must keep Avery safe from a ruthless drug ring before they can silence her testimony.
