KU’s 2024 homecoming celebration begins Oct. 22 

An entire week of events to take place on campus

From Oct. 22 through Oct. 27, KU will hold its annual homecoming extravaganza, full of sporting events, service, games and other fun activities.

The week will kick off with the KU Cares Day of Service on Tuesday, Oct. 22, where students will be able to aid in harvesting potatoes with The Potato Project. For any students interested in signing up for the service, they can do so here. Any registered student should meet outside the Academic Forum by 9:45 a.m. in appropriate service-ready clothing.  

On Wednesday, Oct. 23, the KU Spirit Bingo Night will be held at 7 p.m. in MSU 183, where students can play to win KU themed prizes. Meanwhile, at Keystone Arena, the women’s volleyball team will be facing Thomas Jefferson University in their 21st game of the season.  

South Dining Hall will host a homecoming dinner on Thursday, Oct. 24, where students will also be able to make friendship bracelets. Then, at 8 p.m. the Spirit Rally will be held at the Andre Reed Stadium, complete with music, giveaways and an introduction to the Spirit Court.  

On Friday, Oct. 25 at 5:30 p.m. in MSU 218, a can stacking contest will be held with the goal of helping the Bear Essentials food pantry. Any and all students with groups of 2-4 members can sign up to build their own sculptures here. Judging for the event will take place at 8 p.m.

Also on Friday night, South Dining Hall will be carrying on the traditional Friday night s’mores social from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Room 1. Meanwhile, women’s volleyball will have their second match of the week at 7 p.m. in the Keystone Arena against East Stroudsburg University.  

Saturday, Oct. 26 will be a big day for sports fans on campus with a total of 5 events occurring. At 1 p.m. in the Keystone Natatorium, both men’s and women’s swim teams will be up against Montclair State University, and the women’s team will also face East Stroudsburg University. Then, at 2 p.m. at the Andre Reed Stadium, the football team will defend their win streak as they face Shepherd University for their eighth game of the season.  

Men and women’s cross-country teams will participate in the PSAC championships at the North Campus Course.

The Cub Tents will also be up and running on Saturday, bringing a variety of activities for KU students and local Kutztown families. Attendees can expect live music from alum/student band Tumbleweed, as well as balloon art, obstacle courses, a mechanical bull, a photo booth and a petting zoo.  

The “Feed the Bears” tent will be hosted by the Kutztown University Office of Student Involvement and the KU Foundation, encouraging students to come and donate food and help face food insecurity.  

The Cub Tents will be open between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on the DMZ.  

To wrap up homecoming week, a community cleanup will be held on Sunday, Oct. 27 to assist in picking up trash around town. Any interested students can sign up here and should then meet at 9 a.m. Sunday outside the Kutztown Community Partnership Office on 306 W. Main Street. Supplies for trash picking/cleaning will be provided.
