The Golden Bears men’s rugby team dominated Southern Virginia University on Saturday, Oct. 5 at Luckenbill Field, beating the Knights 46-14, and giving KU its second win of the season for an overall record of 2-1.
KU head coach Dr. Gregg “Doc” Jones said, “Great effort. We play like how we practice. Keep working just as hard.”
“We fronted up physically and didn’t let them play on top of us. Defensive line speed was good,” forward and captain Cameron Thurtell said. “A lot of good effort from all 23 players.”
After Saturday’s victory over Southern Virginia, KU men’s rugby improves to a 2-1 record. The Golden Bears will face off next against Penn State in an away game on Saturday, Oct. 19.
