Owen Lowery’s exhibition “Control” to open at Sharadin’s Miller Art Gallery October 10th

A unique and fascinating experience rooted in Universal Design

By John Mahoney

On Thursday, Oct. 10, Rust Belt artist Owen Lowery will be hosting his exhibit “Control” at the Miller Gallery in the Sharadin Arts Building. Admission will be free to all students, staff and locals. Lowery will be present on the exhibit’s opening day from 2-4 p.m. and will also host an “artist talk” at 4:30 p.m. in Sharadin 120.

Lowery has also stated that there will be “snacks and such” on the opening day.

“Control” is an exhibit that follows the concept of Universal Design in order to make the art as accessible as possible to all people, including those with visual and auditory impairment. There will be a variety of interactive pieces that toy with sound, color, and body-tracking, which are all founded in the idea that humans “Control” and create art by themselves, letting curiosity be the guide.

The exhibit will run from Oct. 10 through Dec. 1. More information such as gallery hours can be found at the Marlin and Regina Miller Gallery webpage
