KU recently announced the hiring of a Deputy Chief of Police and assistant director of Police Services, naming David Drezek to the role.

Drezek comes from Rhode Island with over 24 years of experience in law enforcement, serving for 21 years with the North Providence, RI, Police Department, and as a lieutenant for three years at Worcester State University in Massachusetts.

At North Providence, Drezek “held command-level positions in both the Patrol & Detective Divisions, working with federal, state and local law enforcement,” according to a media release.

At KU, Drezek “is responsible for providing personal safety and police protection for members of the university community,” according to the release.

“He will supervise the daily operations of the University Police Department and oversee directives, general orders and training for professional staff members,” the release continues.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Roger Williams University in Bristol, RI, where he will complete his Master’s in 2019.
