KU has extended the shuttle service hours to add an evening loop until October 6, 2017. The evening shuttle will run from 4:00 p.m. through 10 p.m., Monday through Thursday.

Anne Reel, Associate Director for Public Safety and Police Services said, “For six weeks in the 2017 fall semester, Kutztown University is testing an evening loop to transport students among campus residence halls, academic buildings, local apartment complexes and the downtown area.”

The shuttle stops run on a repeated loop. The stops are McFarland Student Union, Main Street at North Whiteoak Street, Main Street at Constitution Boulevard, Saucony Commons apartments, Saucony Bridge on Main Street, Main Street at South Whiteoak Street, Dixon Hall, Old Main, Golden Bear Village West, University Place, Golden Bear Village West, Academic Forum, Lytle Hall, The Edge at Kutztown apartments, Briar Cliff apartments at College Boulevard and McFarland Student Union.

The extended service will run for six weeks as a trial. Reel said, “We do not have an exact number of students we must have to determine whether the pilot program will continue. We will look at overall usage and how many students get on at each stop and what time the shuttle is utilized.”

“We are asking students who have feedback on this route to send it via email to parking@kutztown.edu.”

Corryn St.Thomas, KU sophomore said, “The extended hours are extremely beneficial seeing as though I live in GB and I have a class that doesn’t end until 4:20 on Tuesday’s and Thursdays.”

“When the nice weather goes away it would be too much of a hassle to walk all the way there and back from classes,” St.Thomas said. St.Thomas suggests to get two shuttles running during the evening because, “going through the off campus route on the extended shuttle makes the trip home longer.”

The program is a project of the Student Government Board.

“It’s our hope that this service will benefit all of KU’s students,” said Molly Gallagher, president, KU Student Government Board. “The extended hours will afford transportation to those attending night classes, evening meetings and events on campus.”

The bus is tracked online and using the free “Ride Systems” app. Students can use the app by selecting “Kutztown University” to check the location of the bus along with its estimated time of arrival.
