The KU women’s field hockey team started off their 2016 season with four straight wins, trouncing the likes of Saint Anselm, Assumption, Slippery Rock and Mercyhurst before falling into a bit of a rough patch in mid-September.

On Saturday, September 24 the Golden Bears lost their third straight game to East Stroudsburg University after losing their previous two games to Millersville University and Shippensburg University, respectively.

Throughout their three-game losing streak, the Golden Bears have been unable to find the back of the net.

The Golden Bears lost to Millersville by a score of 1-0, Shippensburg by a score of 3-0 and fell to the ESU Warriors by two goals.

Both the Bears and the Warriors had 8 total shots during the game, but ESU had the accuracy advantage with seven shots on goal compared to the Golden Bears’ three.

KU goalkeeper Chardonnay Hope saved 5 of 7 shots on goal for the Golden Bears, while West Chester goalkeeper Danielle Ard saved all three of the Golden Bears’ shots on goal, shutting out KU.

Golden Rams Emily Howell and Desiraye Mack found the back of the net for West Chester, scoring in the 9th and 66th minutes, respectively. The two goals would be enough to finish off KU.

The Golden Bears will play next on October 8 at Andre Reed Stadium. The game will begin at 7 p.m. as KU takes on the West Chester Golden Rams for the first time this season.
