Seven energetic gentlemen wowed the crowd on Monday evening, March 23, for the title of Mr. KU at Schaeffer Auditorium.
Sponsored by Alpha Sigma Tau, all profit was donated to the Pine Mountain Settlement School, which specializes in Captureenvironmental programs for children.

The event began with a humorous swimsuit portion; muscle flexing and safety whistles made for entertaining entrances.

During the talent section, each contestant strived to stand out. Kyle Budynkiewic choreographed and performed a dance to the song, “Daylight” by Matt and Kim. Harrison Felt stupefied the auditorium with an interesting segment on making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to the song “Peanut Butter Jelly Time.”

Singing and performing instrumental solos was also a popular choice for the gentlemen. Jake Morrow sang an original song while Tony Gentile played guitar and Jim Dippolito wailed gracefully on his drum set.

Ryan Palamar covered the classic song, “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” by Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons.

The final act was Jeff Lange, who jokingly identified the band name was “Made Two Hours Ago.” He ended up getting a surprising amount of applause from the crowd.

Each student was formally interviewed in the last portion of the event. Gentile was asked, “Why does a refrigerator have a light but not a freezer?” He responded, “You shouldn’t be digging in the freezer once the sun goes down.”

Palamar was requested to do his best stereotypical impression of a sorority girl, to which he declined as to “respect the ladies.” He did however say, “I can’t even.” He came in third for the title.

Morrow was the runner up behind the first place winner of Mr. KU, Jimmy Dippolito, a Kappa Sigma fraternity member.
